About our Locations

Lakehead University's two main campus locations in Thunder Bay, Ontario and Orillia, Ontario provides students with two exceptional campuses to discover. Regardless of location, Lakehead University is committed to providing a student-centred learning environment that embodies a personal educational experience.

Education at Lakehead Thunder Bay

Lakehead Thunder Bay is the ideal location to live and learn; it is a diverse community that offers all of the conveniences of a big city but has a small town feel. Located on the shores of Lake Superior in Northwestern Ontario, Thunder Bay gives you the chance to enjoy an unparalleled access to nature as well as a wide range of cultural events and exciting activities.

Fields and green space surround our campus and all buildings are conveniently located together in one location creating a true campus feel. Many of the University's buildings are grouped around Lake Tamblyn and our residence complexes hug the banks of the McIntyre River. Underground tunnels connect many of the main, centralized buildings on campus, allowing for easy access between classes and facilities. Paved trails surround the campus making it the perfect place to take advantage of taking in the beauty of the area whether you are walking, jogging, rollerblading, bicycling, or, in the winter, cross-country skiing.

When you choose Lakehead Thunder Bay, you become part of a large learning community that works together to increase your educational knowledge, teaching abilities, and research skills.

Education at Lakehead Orillia

Lakehead Orillia combines a small town feel with the conveniences of a large city; neighbouring the Greater Toronto Area, studying in Orillia will let you enjoy the big city while still being in Ontario’s picturesque cottage country. Bordered by two lakes, Orillia is surrounded by diverse communities, rural landscapes and unspoiled, breathtaking views making it the best place to experience four-season living, and providing an amazing home for Lakehead University. The community features arts, music, theatre, festivals, sports, beaches, skiing, pubs and restaurants, all within an hour from Toronto and 30 minutes from Barrie.

Our Orillia campus combines both historical and modern learning facilities, with campus locations in the historic downtown and 500 University Avenue. In 2010, a state-of-the-art campus opened which made it the first campus in North America to be built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standard. No matter where you are from, you will feel at home at Lakehead Orillia.
