Your Lakehead University email is the address to use in all correspondence. Check it regularly for news from the department. Please respond quickly to emails from colleagues and students during work hours, even if you just let us know that you've received the email and will be responding more fully later.
You should also consider in advance and communicate clearly with students the parameters of your email availability. For example, will you be available to students only on weekdays? Or will you be comfortable also receiving and responding to email on evenings and weekends? In what length of time should students be expected a reply? This may be especially important for students to know around assignment deadlines when late night and last minute emails are common. You may also wish to provide guidance on email etiquette to avoid informal or unprofessional communication. For example, email communications must include a greeting, a polite request, question or comment, and a signature.
