Institute of Italian Studies Establishes a New Award for Lakehead University
The Institute of Italian Studies has graciously donated $15,000 to Lakehead University to establish the Institute of Italian Studies Graduate Award.

I first met Ray Stewart (HBComm '72) in the summer of 2015 in the halls of PACI. Born in Thunder Bay, Ray had travelled from his home in British Columbia to visit his mother and father’s grave and refresh the floral arrangement; an annual event, he acknowledged. Charming, intelligent and incredibly humble, Ray and I spoke for more than two hours of growing up in Thunder Bay, his time at PACI and at Lakehead University.

On behalf of the County of Simcoe Warden Gerry Marshall presented a $1 million cheque to Lakehead University this morning during a special celebration event at the 500 University Avenue campus in Orillia. This brings the total amount of contributions to Lakehead by the County of Simcoe to approximately $6.5 million since 2009.
