Securities |
Eligible securities include shares, bonds, bills, warrants, futures, units in mutual trust fund and shares acquired through employee stock options listed on a Canadian stock exchange or on certain foreign exchanges such as New York, London, Tokyo and Nasdaq. The transaction can easily be completed over the phone by calling Allison Louth, Philanthropy Director at +1 (705) 330-4010 ext. 2028 or via email at allison.louth@lakeheadu.ca who will assist you in: 1. Completing a Share Transfer Form available from Lakehead University. 2. Transferring your securities to Lakehead University's brokerage account. Lakehead University will then issue a gift-in-kind tax receipt representing the closing price of the shares on the date of transfer. A tax credit will be calculated and claimed in the donor's tax return for the year. A combination of the Federal and Provincial tax credits will result in a total benefit of approximately 50%, based on the donor's net annual taxable income. (Please consult your own professional advisor for information tailored to your circumstances and to confirm the applicable tax benefits.) |
