Finns have been leaving Finland and settling in the Great Lakes area for decades. Now a scholar from the country is hoping to figure out what became of some of them. Incoming Chair in Finnish Studies, Dr. Jarmo Peltola, provides an interview on CBC Superior Morning with Mary-Jean Cormier.

The Lakehead University Chair in Finnish Studies Advisory Committee has opened a competition to bring a distinguished Finnish scholar from Finland to its Thunder Bay Campus for 4 or 8 months (September 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, January 1 to April 30, 2025, or September 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025).

The deadline for applications is 1 March 2024.
