Math Skills Development (P/J) - YB
This non-credit workshop is for Primary/Junior Division Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students who are either concerned about their mathematical competency and/or wish to strengthen their mathematical understanding.
This twenty (20) hour workshop follows the principles of reform math, consistent with the 2005 revised Ontario curriculum. This course places emphasis on teaching for understanding rather than on rote application of rules. It will provide opportunities to increase your understanding of math concepts through hands-on activities, discussion, and problem solving. Basic mathematical concepts at grade levels four (4) through seven (7) will be addressed; however, you will not be taught algorithms in order to memorize and apply them.
