Mental Hygiene: A New Approach to Mental Wellness (Conversations at The Royal)

This engaging, interactive, and FREE event will give you the chance to learn from experts, connect with fellow Mental Hygiene Challenge participants, and discover how mental hygiene can help you build healthy habits that support your mental wellbeing.
This session will include a presentation on mental hygiene, an overview of The Royal Mental Hygiene Challenge, demonstrations of a few mental hygiene practices, and an open discussion with our experts.
The term “mental hygiene” refers to daily activities that support and maintain mental health. Public health guidelines tell us that we need to do small tasks daily to maintain our physical and dental hygiene, like showering and brushing our teeth. We are now extending the same concept to mental health. Mental hygiene is an important way to maintain good mental health and build the resilience we need to help face challenges in the future (learn more about mental hygiene here).
Experts at The Royal have developed a list of 17 research-based mental hygiene practices that can help boost your overall sense of wellness when practiced for as little as 10 minutes daily. Check out our full list of exercises by registering to participate in the 2025 Royal Mental Hygiene Challenge.
