Ontario Benthos Biomonitoring Network Course
The Ontario Benthos Biomonitoring Network (OBBN), which is coordinated by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, is an aquatic macroinvertebrate biomonitoring network for Ontario’s lakes, streams, and wetlands.
This course is recommended for anyone interested in using benthic macroinvertebrates and provincially standardized methods to monitor streams or lakes; it covers biomonitoring theory, sampling methods and benthic-invertebrate identification. Participants demonstrating proficiency will be certified as OBBN members.
Existing Network members who wish to review sampling or analytical methods, or refresh their skills pertaining to the identification of benthic-invertebrate specimens are also encouraged to attend, as are members who wish to become trainers themselves by obtaining a trainer’s certificate.
