Instructor-Student Personal Relationships and Evaluation
When a student is a close friend or family member of an instructor, the following protocol shall be observed:
1) The instructor will have a conversation with the student ahead of the class start date to let the student know about the limitations the Instructor faces, and that the student's work will be evaluated by someone else;
2) if the course had a GA assigned to it, the GA should be responsible for marking related to the student;
3) if there is no GA assigned to the course, then someone else from the Department should be responsible for marking related to the student (Instructor to coordinate with another Faculty member);
4) if there is a Participation component to the mark, it should be graded on standardized evaluation, made available to all students so transparency is maintained.
