Egale Canada Human Rights Trust workshops
Egale Canada Human Rights Trust is hosting two workshops aimed to improve the mental health, wellness and social conditions of Two Spirit students on campus by enhancing protective factors through broadening awareness and acceptance of Two Spirit identities across campus. Two Spirit is an umbrella term used in Indigenous communities to affirm the interrelatedness of the multiple aspects of identity - including gender, sexuality, community, culture, and spirituality. Learners will be equipped with knowledge and skills to confront the oppression and exclusion Two Spirit students experience and foster inclusion in their academic communities.
These free workshops will be held Wednesday, April 12th and Thursday, April 13th at the Lakehead University Bartley Residence Conference Centre. The first workshop introduces Two Spirit allyship, awareness and safety; and the second workshop prepares learners to build peer-to-peer support networks for Two Spirit students. Please see the attached document and poster for more information. We kindly ask you to distribute these documents across your networks.
All students, student leaders, educators, administrators, and mental health workers from colleges and universities in the Thunder Bay area are invited. Please register by Sunday April 9th using this link: https://goo.gl/forms/QXCHlrGl2i9iFOpE2 .
Thank you for your participation. Please contact us if you have any questions.
