What are the Spring-Summer 2023 residency dates? |
The dates for Spring-Summer housing are May 1, 2023 to August 20, 2023. ALL RESIDENCE ROOMS MUST BE VACATED BY 12:00 P.M. Individual move-in & move-out dates may vary depending on the information provided during registration. |
When can I register for Spring-Summer 2023 residency? |
Registrations for Spring-Summer housing are open. To register,
There is no down payment required for Spring-Summer registrations. |
What type of housing is available during Spring and Summer months? |
Students will be assigned to a single room with a semi-private bathroom. Room assignment will be finalized early April and communicated to students. For students currently in residence, please note that due to spring-summer operational requirements you may be required to move to a different room. |
Can I choose my room for Spring and Summer? |
Due to spring-summer operational requirements, rooms will be automatically assigned by residence administration. |

When does residence registration for the 2023-2024 Academic Year begin? |
Residence registration for the 2023-2024 Academic Year will open by early March 2023. |
How do I register for residence? |
To register, 1) Login to myInfo. 2) Follow one (1) of the following paths to the registration portal:
3) Click on the purple Register button to complete your registration form. 4) Pay your Residence down payment. Note: Both the completed registration form and the down payment are required in order for a registration to be processed. |
Can I move into residence before the start of my housing contract? |
If a student needs to arrive before the start of the housing contract (August 31st, 2023), students must submit an Early Arrival Request Form. Residence Administration will provide email notification if an early arrival request is approved. Please do not show up without confirmed prior confirmation. Early arrivals incur a $30.00 / night fee. To submit an Early Arrival Request Form 1) Login to myInfo. 2) Follow one (1) of the following paths to the registration portal:

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it for move-in day. Can I come later? |
Students who plan to arrive after move in day (August 31st, 2023) should advise the Residence Administration Office by email at resadmin@lakeheadu.ca. Billing will commence on move-in day; however, rooms will be held until the final check-in date (date TBC). Students who need to arrive after the final check-in date must also notify the Residence Administration Office as soon as possible by email at resadmin@lakeheadu.ca. Failure to provide advance notification may result in your room being allocated to another resident. |
Are rooms with private bathrooms available? |
Due to high occupancy rates, rooms with private bathrooms are not available. All students have a private bedroom and share a bathroom with one other student. |
I want to select my BFF as my canmate. How can I make this happen? |
In the application portal in myInfo, please select the Make Group option and create a group for you and your preferred canmate. Please note, due to high occupancy rates, requests for specific canmates is not guaranteed. |
Life in Residence
What are the Residence Front Desk hours of operation? |
Standard Front Desk hours are: Spring & Summer (subject to change without notice)
Fall & Winter (subject to change without notice)

Is Residence open during the Winter Holiday Break? |
The housing contract does not include the Winter Holiday break; however, students are welcome to remain in residence during this time. The Residence Front Desk and Residence Services close for the annual Holiday Break. For details, please speak with a member of the Residence Office. |
I plan to arrive when the Residence Front Desk is closed. Will I still be able to check-in? |
Please plan travel arrangements to coincide with Front Desk hours of operation. Students who are unable to arrive during these hours must send arrival information in advance to resadmin@lakeheadu.ca. Once approved, instructions will be sent by email. Out of courtesy to fellow residence students, late night arrivals may not be accommodated. |
What is my mailing address? |

When can I pick up my mail? |
Students will receive an email once your mail is ready for pick up at the Residence Front Desk. |
Can I send parcels or mail? |
Letters with stamps and/or parcels with a shipping label are accepted at the Front Desk. |
How can I return a parcel? |
The company that you ordered the item from will provide you with a return label, or visit the Canada Post website to coordinate the return and pay for shipping fees. |
How do I connect to Wi-Fi in Residence? |
Students may use their Lakehead username and password (same one used for myInfo and Lakehead email). |
How do I have food delivered to me? |
All students registered in residence are automatically enrolled in either a 5-Day or 7-Day meal plan. Meals are high quality and accommodate special needs. The menu rotates to keep dining options fresh. For students who want delivered meals, the following options include:
Please note, while residents are permitted to order delivery to the Residence Building, it is not coordinated through the Residence Front Desk. Residents are responsible for their own orders from placement to pick-up. Generally, couriers will drop meal deliveries somewhere in the lobby. To prevent delivery mix-ups or order loss, Residents are encouraged to wait in the lobby for their couriers. Lakehead Orillia Residence is not responsible for any issues arising from the use of meal delivery couriers. |
Is there storage on campus for the summer months? |
Residence does not have storage facilities on campus. |
Residence Meal Plan Information |
Lakehead Orillia's Dining Hall and meal plans are catered by Dana Hospitality. Students may view more information including day-to-day menus on the I Can Eat portal. |
Please explain the Meal Plan. |
All residents of the Lakehead Orillia Campus Residence are automatically enrolled in a meal plan with additional declining balance dollars. Residence does not have cooking facilities and students are not permitted to store or use kitchen appliances in their rooms. The meal plan provides an "all-you-care-to-eat" dine-in experience at the campus Dining Hall. Declining Balance dollars (DB$) may be used at the Simcoe Hall Kiosk or at Public House where dine-in or take-out meals are also available. |
I have a dietary restriction. What can I do? |
Students with dietary restrictions should include this information on their residence registration form. Great care is taken to ensure dietary restrictions are accommodated. This includes food allergies and intolerances such as nut or shellfish allergies, lactose intolerances, vegetarians and gluten free diets, etc... Students who forget to list dietary needs on their registration forms may email resadmin@lakeheadu.ca Your residence registration will be updated. Let us know so we can help! |
Can I bring my pet? |
Residence is a pet-free facility. Exceptions may be granted for pre-approved Service Animals. For more information, please contact resadmin@lakeheadu.ca |
