Dr. Bediwy’s current research stems from his doctoral dissertation combined with his previous professional experience as a research engineer. His vision is to amalgamate structural engineering and the application of smart materials to develop tools and devise solutions that make the infrastructures smarter and more resilient/sustainable. Below are the main research topics:

  • Smart Materials and their Structural Applications
  • Large-scale laboratory testing of concrete and steel structures
  • Recycle/Reuse Industrial Wastes for Structural Applications
  • Improving the reliability of experimental data and understanding of combined degradation mechanisms of concrete and steel structures
