Yolanda Twance
Yolanda earned a diploma from Confederation College in Native Mental Health and graduated with the Dean’s Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement. She continued her educational pursuits at Lakehead University and earned her Bachelor of Arts, Indigenous Learning degree and her Bachelor of Education degree, with First Class Standing. Yolanda has also graduated from Lakehead University with her Master in Education, writing a thesis entitled, Who We Are is Where We Come From: A Historical Curriculum Resource for the Pic Mobert First Nation. Yolanda is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
Yolanda values education and with her personal and professional experiences she is able to provide support to students in many areas. Her connections within the community of Thunder Bay, her ability to assess student needs, her cultural knowledge and her love of learning makes her an exceptional asset to the Indigenous Student Support Services department. Yolanda is committed to working with students to ensure their academic success, and given the success achieved by her own children; she knows what it takes for students to reach their academic goals. Yolanda is a mother and a grandmother.
