Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a tenure-track position (teaching focused) at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on August 1, 2024.
Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level with an excellent teaching record. While the primary focus of this position is on teaching, the successful candidate is also expected to contribute to the broader goals and activities of the Department, including administrative service and program and course development. Candidates for the position should possess or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of course delivery is highly desired.
Candidates should provide evidence of performance and potential as an instructor of teaching university courses, which can include past teaching experience, demonstration of teaching effectiveness, examples of innovative approaches to teaching, supervision of students and teaching assistants, and ability and potential to participate in and contribute to the development of the Department's courses and programs. The successful applicant will also contribute to the service activities of the Department and the University. Candidates should provide evidence of previous contributions to department, faculty, or university activities, including community outreach and any contributions to the discipline or profession. While the position is focused on teaching undergraduate courses, strong record on research will also be considered an asset.
