Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites highly qualified candidates to apply for one (1) full-time, tenure track faculty appointment in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences/School of Nursing. The successful candidate(s) will engage in a combination of teaching, research, and service duties in line with their appointed rank and will hold a Joint Researcher Appointment with Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre/Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence as early as January 1, 2025.
The preferred candidates will have:
i. An earned Ph.D. (Ph.D. in progress will be considered).
ii. An unrestricted license as an RN (General or Extended Class) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
iii. At least one graduate degree in Nursing or health related discipline is preferred;
iv. Demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels and evidence of an effective and established teaching record, and of educational leadership and/or mentorship;
v. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired;
vi. Demonstrated commitment to research and scholarship; evidence of peer-reviewed academic publications, academic conference presentations, potential to secure external funding, and knowledge translation activities. Experience integrating research evidence into teaching; Preferred research and scholarship skill set will focus on various aspects of illness, health, and the overall delivery of health care services in Northwestern Ontario. Will demonstrate the ability to design, implement, analyze, and evaluate scientific studies and have the ability to mentor novice nurse researchers in research processes;
vii. The potential to make service contributions to the School of Nursing at Lakehead University, TBRHSC/TBRHRI, and the Nursing profession;
viii. Demonstrated commitments to equity, diversity, decolonization, inclusion, belonging, and social justice.
The Joint Nurse Researcher Appointment with TBRHSC/TBRHRI is intended to expand the current state of nursing research, build capacity, and enhance community and other partnerships. Strong candidates pursuing any areas of research in relation to health/hospital issues in Northwestern Ontario will be considered. Overall themes of focus for the successful candidate may include but are not limited to: retention of nursing staff and overall hospital staff experience; innovative learning and teaching methods; patient and family experience; equity, diversity, and inclusion; substance use and mental health; cardiovascular surgery and health outcomes; and medical/surgical nursing. This position will spend one day a week at TBRHSC for research and scholarship and will be eligible for appointment as an Associate Scientist at the Thunder Bay Regional health Research Institute (TBRHRI) https://www.tbrhri.ca/scientists/.
