Parliamentary Internship Programme
Each year, the PIP brings 12 recent university graduates to Ottawa for an exceptional non-partisan work-study experience. Following an intensive orientation, each Intern completes placements with both a government and an opposition Member of Parliament while also attending weekly academic seminars, producing an original research paper, and completing study tours to other legislatures in Canada and abroad. The more than 500 PIP alumni can be found in prominent positions across Canada and internationally, serving as professors, lawyers, ambassadors, journalists, executives, and even as Members of Parliament.
The Interns receive a scholarship of $35,000 as well as support for moving and travel expenses during the legislative study tours. Beginning in 2025-26, they will also be enrolled as full-time students at the University of Ottawa and will earn a graduate certificate in Public Administration upon completing the Programme. This new partnership will provide the Interns with access to the full range of support services available to uOttawa students, including the Mashkawazìwogamig Indigenous Resource Centre.
Applications are open to university graduates from all disciplines who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents and are available to work full-time in Ottawa from September 2025 to June 2026. For more information and to submit an application, please visit https://pip-psp.org/apply/
