The LLJ is a refereed open access journal that publishes articles, case comments, book reviews, and book notes on legal issues in Canada. The LLJ is run by an Editorial Team made up of both students and faculty, with Prof. Tenille E. Brown serving as Editor in Chief.

Call for Papers

The LLJ is excited to announce the publication of our first issue, and is now inviting submissions on any topic in the legal field for future issues. All topics are welcome and we are particularly interested in papers that explore (1) Aboriginal legal issues; (2) rural, northern, and small firm practice; and/or (3) natural resources and environmental law. 

All submissions are received online on a rolling basis. However, we are requesting that any authors who would like their submissions to be considered for upcoming issues submit their work by email. Volume:1, issue:2 of the LLJ features a piece by John Borrows on Anishinaabe law. 

The first issue – which can be viewed at www.llj.lakeheadu.ca – contains papers on various topics, such as Aboriginal and Treaty Rights, Indigenous Legal Traditions, the Duty to Consult, and Canadian Environmental Law.

The registration process is simple and once registered, authors can submit their work and track the status of their submission using the For Authors link. 

The LLJ greatly appreciates all submissions and is committed to providing an update on the status of all submissions within six weeks.
