Common Year in Applied Science
The Common Year in Applied Science is a one-year program offered at the Thunder Bay Campus for qualified applicants who require additional academic preparation prior to entry to the Bachelor of Engineering degree programs. Admission Requirements and applicable Academic Regulations can be found in the Lakehead University Calendar. After the Common Year in Applied Science, candidates must apply for admission to one of the following:
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Software Engineering
To be admitted to one of these programs, candidates completing the Common Year in Applied Science must maintain a minimum average of 60%. In addition, they must obtain a minimum average of 60% in Mathematics 1051 and 1077, and a minimum average of 60% in Mathematics 1071 and 1078.
Based on program space availability, some programs may require higher averages. In this case, candidates meeting the minimum admission requirements will be offered alternative options.
