Lakehead University’s first business incubator, Ingenuity, is located throughout the main floor of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Engineering and Sciences (CASES) building. The Ingenuity's Managers office is located in the Innovation, Partnerships and Economic Development office (IPED), on the same floor.

The business incubator comes equipped with all the tools and resources needed to help students take their business from idea to launch. Ingenuity will incubate student-based start-ups through business mentorship and entrepreneurship training. The strategic vision for Ingenuity is to foster an entrepreneurial culture, create employment and self-employment opportunities, and contribute to the region’s economic development by leveraging existing community resources to deliver a range of entrepreneurial activities. Ingenuity will provide space and programming to promote and nurture successful start-up businesses. Along with programming geared towards business development Ingenuity also offers provides many other tools and resources to benefit their members such as:

Ingenuity District - Ingenuity District is the main hub of Ingenuity with an open collaborative space, 8 hot desks available for assignment and private lockable storage.

Ingenuity Community - Ingenuity has a number of partner organizations that provide resources and programming within the City of Thunder Bay and Region. This space provides access for the partners to be on hand for Ingenuity members.

Ingenuity Connections Theatre - This 21 comfortable seat theatre room will play host to a series of workshops, guest speakers, movie days, lunch & learns and so much more. Ingenuity Connections Theatre is home to state-of-the-art technology that gives users access to programming and web-based “activities” from anywhere!

Ingenuity Makerspace - Equipped with 3D printers, 40W Laser Cutter, 3D Scanner, soldering stations and all tools galore!

Privacy Phone Booth - The ROOM Phonebooth is available in the Ingenuity Community to allow for the privacy you need it. The ROOM Phonebooth's soundproofing was manufactured using over 1000 recycled plastic bottles.

Media Room - Ingenuity’s media room comes complete with a Microsoft Surface and the latest full Adobe Suite software, digital cameras, tripods, gimbals, lighting, product showcase box and much more. The blue chrome wall built inside to create videos and marketing materials.

Meeting Rooms - Members of Ingenuity have access to two meeting rooms to host meetings in a confidential setting. Both rooms also come equipped with technology for video conferencing and laptop display.
