Lakehead University’s Commitment to Advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are the world’s call to action on the most pressing social, economic and environmental challenges. These goals recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Lakehead University recognizes the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals requires cross-sector collaboration. Success is dependent on a collective working together to advance solutions through sharing of resources, knowledge and expertise, and the development of innovative partnerships to advance pioneering solutions to these global challenges.
Through Lakehead’s commitment to access, innovative programming, teaching and learning, and exceptional research, we leverage our ability to mobilize all aspects of the communities we serve, including students and future changemakers, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry, community and Indigenous partners, to drive local and global change aligned to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
