Alexandra Korinowsky
Alexandra Korinowsky (she/her) is a senior communications strategist who, before joining Lakehead University in 2024, held the position of Executive Director, Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, BC – Canada’s top-ranked school for art and design education.
Before joining Emily Carr, Alexandra held several roles with the Government of British Columbia’s Communications and Public Engagement unit, including leading communications on the complex opioid crisis file with the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions and supporting the launch of BC’s first prescribed safer supply program in 2021, serving on Premier John Horgan’s strategic writing team where she penned speeches, opinion editorials and blogs in the Premier’s voice, and led communications for the 2019 provincial budget. In addition to her government communications experience, she worked within the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Transit Strategy and Policy Branch where she oversaw a team of policy analysts and worked as a project manager on major transit infrastructure projects.
Prior to moving to BC in 2015, Alexandra worked in several public sector and non-profit organizations in Toronto, including CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind), Cancer Care Ontario, and the Toronto International Film Festival.
Alexandra specializes in issues management, engaging storytelling, developing strategic communications and marketing plans to support an organization’s unique needs, and is most passionate about working with people and leading highly functional teams where everyone is valued and shares a sense of belonging.
She holds a bachelor's degree in English, Cultural Studies and Art History from McGill University and a post-graduate certificate in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from Centennial College.
