Gerontology: Graduate Specialization
The Collaborative Graduate Program in Gerontology
Your Future in Gerontology
The Gerontology Program collaborates with six departments; Education, Kinesiology, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health and Sociology, to provide students with an innovative, interdisciplinary learning perspective. Students have the opportunity to access multifaceted resources and work together with complementary disciplines.
The Interdisciplinary Graduate Specialization in Gerontology is designed for students who have been admitted into the following Master's degree programs:
- Education
- Kinesiology
- Psychology (Clinical)
- Psychology (Psychological Science)
- Public Health (MPH)
- Social Work
- Sociology
Research and theory in Gerontology is reviewed, and the thesis or major project taken in the collaborating academic unit will have a gerontological focus.
This Program has unique features. Renowned leaders in the field of gerontology interact with graduate students and faculty to provide critical comments and a contemporary viewpoint. In addition to class time, lectures, workshops, symposia and forums serve to augment the students’ learning experiences.
Forums for Interdisciplinary Gerontology are discussions where students and members of the community present research to professional service providers, faculty and other students.
