Under general supervision, reporting to the Director, Security Services, the Security Guard performs duties for the purpose of preventing theft and vandalism, maintaining order, providing security for all University personnel, buildings and property, controlling traffic and parking, guiding students and visitors, and undertaking special investigation duties as required. Incumbents in this classification are subject to rotating shifts and day or night duty.

 

DUTIES:

The Associate Security Guard will be responsible for monitoring alarm panels for fires, intruders and equipment malfunctions and video feeds from various cameras on a continual basis in order to take appropriate action.  They will also answer telephone inquiries and follow up with the required information or response.  This includes answering the University emergency lines and initiating the appropriate action, which may require dispatching and relaying information to Security Guards, Emergency First Response Team (EFRT), and Emergency Services (Police, Ambulance, Fire), as applicable. 

The Associate Security Guard will support daily tasks for Security Services such as providing assistance and direction to visitors, staff and students; receiving and accounting for monies paid for parking fines, locker rentals; entering data in various computer programs; maintaining University lost and found service; completing administrative tasks such as filing, shredding, stuffing envelopes, labelling, and issuing and receiving returned keys. As required, they will also complete and submit timely reports and administrative forms.

In addition, the Associate Security Guard will perform Security Guard or other related duties, as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant must possess a Law and Security Administration or Police Foundations Diploma, and/or post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education (minimum grade 12) and related experience.  As well must have a valid Ontario Private Security & Investigative Services License; a valid driver’s license (class “G” minimum) and maintaining a driving record ensuring insurable status for the operation of University vehicles.  A valid first aid certificate is required. Training in fire prevention would be an asset.

They must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills and have the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with emphasis on good human relations, courtesy, deportment and appearance.  The ability to handle all security matters in a trustworthy and confidential manner and knowledge of investigative techniques and/or experience in security would be considered an asset.

 

Applicants must have the ability to perform regular patrolling Security Guard duties which includes patrolling Lakehead University campus buildings and grounds on foot, by car and by bicycle (which includes climbing stairs).  They should also be willing to perform on a rotating shift duty.

 

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must provide a criminal record check and three-year drivers abstract.

About this Job

Job Duties

  • Install, configure and analyze Core, edge and wireless network hardware
  • Allocate network server and device name / addressing, ensuring they follow policy and are communicating only within the requested network domains
  • Design and implement IP sub-netting, VLANs, network policies and data / voice quality of service
  • Manage accounts and rights for remote authentication and VPN access
  • Develop and implement security access control policies
  • Manages adds, moves and changes to the telephone and voicemail systems

Qualifications

Qualifications

About this Job

The overall purpose of this position is to provide LUPC trainees with skills and practice in developing

therapeutic relationships, assessment and intervention skills, and appropriate clinical documentation in

fulfillment of their practicum requirements for graduation. It will also better-prepare students for

external practicum placements.

 

The type of clinical training will depend on the Clinical Supervisor’s practice area(s) and competencies,

as well as the service needs identified by our community stakeholders.

 

Job Duties

 

  • Providing clinical psychology supervision to MA-level Clinical Psychology students throughout the 28-week contract. There may also be an opportunity to supervise senior (doctoral) students
  • gaining experience with supervision (“supervision of supervision”); dependent on the clinical service and Clinical Supervisor’s skill set.
  • Reviewing trainee documentation and reports, as relevant to the clinical services provided.
  • Maintenance of Client and Supervision records per legislation, professional standards, and LUPC policies.
  • Completion of trainee evaluation forms and ongoing communication with the Clinic Director and Department regarding individual training and possible needs for remediation.
  • Ensuring their own and trainee adherence to the College of Psychologists of Ontario regulatory Standards, professional ethics and guidelines, applicable legislation, and Lakehead University and LUPC policies and procedures.
  • Working with the Clinic Director to review clinic referrals to ensure they fall within the Clinical
  • Supervisor’s competency area(s) and determine suitability for trainee service provision.

 Qualifications

  • Registration as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
  • Preference will be for applicants with a doctorate in clinical psychology from a CPA- or APA-

accredited program.

  • Demonstrated professionalism with a clear promise of excellence in clinical supervision and

must have well-developed written and oral communication skills. 

  • Availability for in-person supervision preferred. Virtual may be considered.
  • Authorized practice with children and adolescents is an asset.

Reporting to the Manager, Employee and Labour Relations the incumbent works collaboratively with the Human Resources team to assist with providing strategic advice, guidance, recommendations and support to the University’s management team and employees. This role will have a client centered approach by promoting and supporting positive labour and employee relations with matters related to collective agreement interpretation, grievance procedure, performance and attendance management, conduct in the workplace and conflict resolution. 

The incumbent handles confidential information in an appropriate manner and refers more complex queries as appropriate. These include responding to requests or questions from labour relations, providing information or redirecting to other contacts as appropriate; alerting the Manger of any issues that they should be aware of or that require their attention; providing administrative support when required; conducting research, gathering and compiling confidential information in support of special projects, grievances, and the University’s bargaining strategy.

 

Job Duties

  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on positive employee relations.
  • Provide guidance to management on matters relating to workplace conflict and employee misconduct.
  • Assist with collective bargaining by researching industry data, identifying trends, surveying appropriate groups, developing proposal recommendations, assessing and analyzing current collective agreements, and participating on the negotiation committee.
  • Participate in the processing of grievances, including conducting research, preparing background documentation, briefing documents and summary reports.
  • Coach management with performance improvement approaches and strategies related to their employees and provide advice on development
  • Develop and deliver training programs for management and employees in areas of, employee and labour relations
  • Assist with research and keep current on emerging issues such as legislation changes, case law to ensure compliant and minimizing risks.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary education in Human Resource Management and a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in labour and employee relations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A CHRP/CHRL designation would be an asset
  • Experience and advanced knowledge on matters such as employee/labour relations, performance management, investigations/fact-finding, discipline, workplace complaints and grievances.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to the Ontario Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, Ontario Employment Standards Act.
  • Experience working effectively in a highly confidential and multi-disciplinary environment and building positive relationships with stakeholders. Experience in a University environment would be a definite asset.

Informed by the Student Health and Wellness Health Promotion Strategy, the Health Promoter is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of wellness education and health promotion programming for Lakehead University students.  The health promoter also oversees the Health Promotion Activities Lead and the Peer Wellness Educator roles and, is also responsible for the distribution and analysis of survey data (i.e. NCHA survey, etc.).

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent education in a related field;

Job Duties

  • Performs a wide variety of tasks in Physical Plant and/or Residence related to custodial, grounds, shipping/receiving and electrical work. The Space & Capital Planning Manager is responsible for three primary areas for the campus; roofing issues, hazardous materials, and minor renovations. These tasks require writing tenders and specifications, drafting required drawings, researching existing drawings, managing the tendering process, including conducting site visits and answering tender questions; awarding & managing the construction project and approving invoices. (This includes main campus, off campus buildings and Residence buildings and staff).

 

Managing the university's asbestos containing materials (ACM), requires understanding and adhering to, the OH&S Act, and Regulation 278/05, (asbestos regulation).  The regulation dictates that annually; audit all buildings with ACM & upload to a database (HMIS), train specific employee groups, including equipping with PPE, and respirator fit testing.  This position manages the required removals projects, as generated from the audit.  The Hazardous Materials portion of this position includes mould and lead paint remediation as additional duties. This position is also responsible for a variety of Physical Plant portfolios; such as the Council of Ontario Universities (COU) space study, capital planning software and auditing, campus roofs, insurance and small in-house projects.

 

Along with three to five years of experience in project management of construction projects and understanding of contract documentation, the desired candidate will possess a diploma in Architectural or Engineering Technology along with knowledge and experience of design, construction details, building envelope, general mechanical & electrical systems, and furniture for renovation projects and new builds.  They will have the ability to interpret and apply COU Space Study space factors, architectural standards and provincial & local building codes.

 

Previous asbestos work in construction training and a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing asbestos projects, including Type 3 removals; and strong understanding of managing asbestos, in a facility environment, where buildings and systems are interlinked, via a power house and occupied is preferred. Five years of experience in mould assessment & removal projects, and a strong understanding of OH&S Act and MOL guidelines is also preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD is a must, and experience with Archibus, VFA/Accruent, HMIS (asbestos database), WHMIS, Health and Safety training, and familiarity with COU Space Study-Building Blocks is an asset.

 

The desired candidate will also be comfortable working from heights, obtain strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, ability to attend onsite, at moment's notice, investigating building issues on roofs, interior & exterior of buildings, crawlspaces, asbestos removals and via lift devices.

The incumbent also plays a key role in the establishment of the operating and ancillary strategic budget plans and provides support to Senior University Administration and to Board Committees on finance, accounting, investments, budget related matters and provides recommendations concerning the University’s financial risks and opportunities.  Through developing department goals and objectives, the incumbent will create short and long term plans for the financial success of the University, and monitor and evaluate the progress in achieving these plans.

As the ideal candidate for this senior-level position will be an accomplished who can manage high functioning teams.  Additionally, you are a Chartered Professional Accountant with more than ten years of experience in progressive leadership roles, preferably in a post-secondary environment.  You have expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounting theory and practice, including relevant legislation as it relates to the Public Sector.  You also have experience in process improvement and change management especially relating to ERP systems. Reporting to the Bookstore Manager, the Bookstore Clerk’s primary role is that of a customer service representative. The following is a brief outline of the responsibilities.

Job Duties

  • Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external customers;
  • Perform daily cash transactions on the POS system ensuring all transactions are handled in an accurate and timely manner;

Under the general supervision and reporting to the Manager of Security Services, the Associate Security Guard performs duties for the purpose of preventing theft and vandalism, maintaining order, providing security for all University personnel, buildings and property, controlling traffic and parking, guiding students and visitors and undertaking special investigation duties as required.  The Casual Associate Security Guards do not have a set schedule, and are scheduled for shifts as needed.

DUTIES:

-          Patrols campus to prevent and discover, observe and report offences, including potential intruders and criminal offenders, trespassers and those in breach of University Policy.

-          Conducts patrols for insecure areas, fire and other threats to campus structures including equipment malfunctions and makes reports and takes appropriate action

-          Engages in parking and smoking control and enforcement

-          Responds to inquiries and follows up with required information or responses

-          Responds to emergency medical calls for service on campus

-          Provides walking escort services for faculty, staff and students

-          Works with other Security Guards, Emergency First Response Team (EFRT) and Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Ambulance) as required

-          Responsible for assisting with access to restricted areas

-          Provide assistance and direction to visitors, staff and students

-          Enter data in various computer programs on a daily basis

-          Assists with University lost and found program

-          Completes and submits timely reports and administrative forms as required

-          Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-          Degree in Law and Security Administration or Police Foundations Diploma or equivalent combination of education (minimum grade 12) and experience

-          Must possess a valid Ontario Private Security & Investigative Services License

-          Holds a valid First Aid/CPR certificate

-          Sufficiently proficient in the use of PCs to utilize reporting and searching programs to assist in daily duties, submission of reports, investigations and familiarity in Datatel Colleague systems as asset

-          Knowledge of investigative techniques and/or experience in security an asset

-          Excellent oral and written communication skills

-          Ability to handle all security matters in a trustworthy and confidential manner

-          Ability to perform regular patrolling Security Guard duties (includes patrolling Lakehead University campus buildings and grounds on foot, by vehicle and by bicycle, including climbing stairs

-          Must possess a valid driver’s licence (class ‘G’ minimum) and maintaining a driving record ensuring insurable status for operation of University vehicle.

-          Willingness to perform shift duties (including day and night shift, weekend and week day work)

About this Job

Reporting to the Director of International Enrolment, the International Recruitment Officer recruits students from around the world to Lakehead University (all programs, at all campuses) by participating in and leading recruitment and outreach activities. The successful incumbent acts as Market Lead in the coordination, planning and execution of a portfolio of strategic recruitment outreach, marketing, conversion and relationship management strategies in target markets that ensures the University achieves its enrolment goals. Through international education research, market performance assessment, trend reviews, competitor analysis, and front-line experiences, the International Recruitment Officer will support the development of responsive recruitment and marketing activities that will maximize Lakehead University’s presence in target markets. As an Ambassador of the University, the International Recruitment Officer represents the university in a range of activities and environments, liaising and managing relationships with diverse and international audiences including prospective students, families, counsellors, agents, government officials, alumni, and partners of the University.

 


Job Duties

  • Coordinate all aspects of and participate in international recruitment activities (including school visits, student fairs, agent events, government-sponsored meetings and international conferences, etc.) in targeted off-shore/international markets
  • Act as Primary Contact and Market Lead in assigned target markets, managing all aspects relating to Lakehead's presence, outreach and enrolment acquisition within the target markets
  • Develop and conduct targeted in-country and virtual conversion efforts to maximize yield, which may include, but not be limited to: follow-up visits, applicant seminars, family & friends events, pre-departure receptions, Lakehead info days, etc.
  • Develop and maintain prospect and applicant lists and databases to effectively manage the recruitment and conversion funnel for each region/target market
    • Prepare detailed conversion reports that address market performance using key metrics that aid in ongoing yield projection, at regular intervals
    • Support the onboarding and ongoing development, training, and maintenance of a comprehensive network of Agents and partners
    • Ensure regular contact is maintained with various audiences in various forms of communication (i.e. personalized e-mails, online chat channels, e-newsletters, mass emails, etc.) to support the overall success of market development and cultivation

 Qualifications

  • University degree with 2 to 3 years of experience working in a post-secondary setting in the field of student recruitment and marketing
  • Excellent communication and marketing skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in public speaking with the ability to create and deliver dynamic presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume, target-driven environment; meet deadlines and handle stressful working conditions
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to cross cultural communication needs and trends
  • Organizational skills and project/event management skills
  • Be a self-starter with a strong independent and entrepreneurial work ethic
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and publishing programs, laptop and presentation technology, and digital communication platforms (e.g. CRM)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of University programming requirements, regulations, department specific information and other university services for the purpose of appropriate referrals.
  • Experienced traveller who is comfortable travelling far distances, for extended periods of time, and with the ability to be adaptive and make decisions relating to the unpredictable nature of international travel
  • Fluency in at least one other language other than English is preferred

Hours of Work

Primarily a 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shift, Monday to Friday. When required, hours of work and location may be modified to suit the needs of the University

Job Duties

  • Performs a wide variety of tasks in Physical Plant and/or Residence related to custodial, grounds, shipping/receiving and electrical work. The principal responsibilities are outlined on the position descriptions for Receiver/Shipper/Trucker; Custodian I; Caretaker; Groundsworker and Electrician Helper.
  • Will be assigned to a home department in Housekeeping.
  • Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHIMIS Regulations; Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act; other health & safety-related legislation & standards and with such workplace practices as outlined by his/her immediate supervisor.
  • Operates the appropriate machinery for the position, e.g., floor cleaning machine, lawn mower,

trucks, power tools, etc.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Experience in custodial, grounds, receiving/shipping.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s licence of the appropriate class, with a good driving record.
  • Must have the following certifications (or the ability to complete certifications during the

trial/probationary period): WHMIS, chainsaw certification, defensive driving certificate, forklift

certification, current Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate and any other related training during the trial/probation period (E.g. tractor operation, etc.)

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling heavy

objects (occasionally over 100 lbs.), working at heights (scaffolding and ladders) and perform

overhead work.

  • General knowledge of recognized practices and safe work habits and techniques employed in

grounds maintenance, custodian work, and electrical work and in receiving/shipping, including

knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving principles.

  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations and other health and safety related legislation and standards.
  • Ability to operate the appropriate machinery for the position (e.g. forklift, tractors, loaders,

scrubbers, carpet extractors, etc.)

  • Aptitude for general maintenance functions.
  • Ability to deal courteously with staff, students and the general public.
  • Proven good work record, attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to perform heavy manual work, shovelling gravel and snow on a continuous basis as required, and carrying bags of salt and fertilizer on and off the truck
