Job Description:
During the placement, the intern will be assisting research on our post-COVID-19 MRI imaging lung study. This position will focus on conducting research and the regulatory process underlying it.
1. Assist with ongoing experiments in Hyperpolarized (HP) 129Xe MRI imaging and research
coordination that are both clinical and pre-clinical in nature.
2. Initial calibration of quadrature flex lung coil using both thermally polarized and
hyperpolarized 129Xe phantoms to optimize the transmit power MRI settings.
3. Perform statistical data analysis including T-tests, Welch's tests, as well as correlation and
regression analyses.
4. Optimize repetition time, echo time, and k-space trajectories for post-COVID gas transfer
impairment detection with the highest possible sensitivity.
5. Perform image quality analysis (i.e. SNR calculations, CNR calculations, and image artifact
identification).
6. Perform histogram image analysis for post-COVID-related gas transfer impairment detection.
7. Assessment of ventilation heterogeneity via local HP 129Xe signal variance calculation.
8. Contribute to protocol writing, creation and maintenance and organization of study
documents, and coordination of experiments, for clinical trial and research studies.
9. Assist with preparing and maintaining the research project's regulatory and administrative
documents, contributing to the presentation/dissemination of research results, manuscript and
research application preparation, and outreach.

The successful candidate will coordinate research projects related to Indigenous health, including the CIHR funded projects “Engaging for Change” which seeks to implement strategies to improve the provision of culturally safe health care for Indigenous peoples in Thunder Bay ON and “Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe’iyewigamig Mino-bimaadiziwin” (WNMB) which seeks to prevent cancer through traditional healing, including monthly traditional healing practitioner visits and seasonal medicine camps.
The position will be supervised by Dr. Lana Ray who is the principal investigator of the projects.
*There is the potential for this position to be a post-doctoral fellowship
Salary: $CAN 47,000/year + benefits
Term: 1-year with the possibility of extension for additional terms

DUTIES
The Indigenous Health Research Coordinator will:
- Plan and coordinate the initiation of research study protocol, and the establishment
- of operating policies and procedures.
- Prepare research ethics board applications
- Coordinate and undertake research activities including interviews with health service providers and traditional healing clients
- Transcribe interviews and focus groups
- Ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities
- Work collaboratively with Dr. Ray’s research assistants and graduate students
- Plan, coordinate and keep records for advisory meetings and other relevant tables and engagement activities
- Monitor the progress of research activities; develop and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to writing peer-reviewed manuscripts and community knowledge translation activities
- Support the development of grant applications to support future research studies
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Prior research and project coordination experience
- Prior experience working with Indigenous communities and in the health care sector would be considered an asset.

Job Description:
During the placement, the intern will be assisting research on our post-COVID-19 MRI imaging lung study. This position will focus on conducting research and the regulatory process underlying it.
1. Assist with ongoing experiments in Hyperpolarized (HP) 129Xe MRI imaging and research
coordination that are both clinical and pre-clinical in nature.
2. Initial calibration of quadrature flex lung coil using both thermally polarized and
hyperpolarized 129Xe phantoms to optimize the transmit power MRI settings.
3. Perform statistical data analysis including T-tests, Welch's tests, as well as correlation and
regression analyses.
4. Optimize repetition time, echo time, and k-space trajectories for post-COVID gas transfer
impairment detection with the highest possible sensitivity.
5. Perform image quality analysis (i.e. SNR calculations, CNR calculations, and image artifact
identification).
6. Perform histogram image analysis for post-COVID-related gas transfer impairment detection.
7. Assessment of ventilation heterogeneity via local HP 129Xe signal variance calculation.
8. Contribute to protocol writing, creation and maintenance and organization of study
documents, and coordination of experiments, for clinical trial and research studies.
9. Assist with preparing and maintaining the research project's regulatory and administrative
documents, contributing to the presentation/dissemination of research results, manuscript and

Participation in the University’s Convocation ceremonies is also part of this role.
The position requires a high level of customer service and engagement, which may require variable hours of work based on operational needs.
Candidates to this position must have completed a university degree along with at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a student service advisory role. The successful candidate has the demonstrated ability to respond to student needs with a holistic approach as well as strong working knowledge of University policies and procedures and the functions within Undergraduate Admissions, Student Awards & Financial Aid, and Academic Advising, Records & Registration. Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in Business, Education or a related field, and/or a minimum 5 years in closely related work experience;

As a valuable member of the Undergraduate Studies in Education (USE), the Professional Experiences Coordinator, Intermediate/Senior (I/S) Division, coordinates all activities in support of teaching placements, community education and outreach as they relate to the Intermediate/Senior division Teacher Candidates.
The Professional Experiences Coordinator clarifies, coordinates, and implements protocols and policies for faculty advisors, teacher candidates, associate teachers, and principals. They will support and mentor I/S faculty advisors, provide professional development opportunities to associate teachers and counsel teacher candidates, including candidates with additional challenges and placement needs. They will work closely with international students, establish and maintain partnerships with schools and NGOs regionally and nationally to provide students with alternative placement opportunities, and liaise regularly with the Chair and administrative team in Undergraduate Studies.
DUTIES
- Coordinate and manage practicum components for all I/S division students enrolled in Bachelor of Education degree programs
- Communicate regularly in person, by email, or phone with I/S Faculty Advisors during placement to support communication and decision making strategies, particularly with difficult placements.
- Lead three half-day workshops with I/S FAs annually.
- Coordinate and conduct pre and post practicum meetings with I/S Faculty Advisors (individual and small-group meetings)
- Liaise with the Chairs to develop and coordinate alternative placements to develop, review, and revise student eligibility criteria, policy and procedures
- Collaborate with, support, and co-supervise (along with the Chair) the Placement Officer in their role to ensure appropriate placements are secured for students
- Plan, coordinate and deliver practicum orientation sessions to current and incoming I/S students.
- Participate in and manage meetings to support students 'at risk', or following terminated placements
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive knowledge of university education programs, and the field of education
- Master's Degree in Education or related area an asset
- Mental Health First Aid training is considered an asset
- Experience as an administrator in an educational system (e.g. principal, professional development officer, curriculum officer, department head)
- Experience with special education and/or ELL/ESL
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) due to regular interactions beyond student interactions with school administrators and teachers, potential placement partners, community groups, provincial affiliates, Ontario Ministry of Education, Ontario College of Teachers, faculties of Education, and committee work
- Effective organizational, time management, planning, creative thinking, conflict management, problem solving, mentoring, and public speaking skills
- Proficient in Google Workspace and social media platforms

Reporting to the Chair of Undergraduate Studies in Education (USE), the Program Coordinator will assist in the development of our new Technological Education diploma and degree programs, including program design, coordination and delivery. The position may be based in either Thunder Bay or Orillia.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for promoting and supporting excellence and innovation by guiding strategic planning and the creation of these new programs. The successful applicant will have experience in one or more of the trades that comprise the Technological Education curriculum. It is expected that, as the programs develop, the Coordinator will coordinate all aspects of the program, including supporting and advising students, liaising with schools and the community to create partnerships, overseeing Practicum placements across both campuses, and ensuring the program accreditation standards of the Ontario College of Teachers are met.
The Program Coordinator must have excellent skills in leadership and program management (recruiting and retaining highly skilled instructors and program developers, leading and supporting administrative staff), external liaison (fostering relationships with school boards and educational organizations), and financial management, and marketing and promotion experience.
DUTIES
- Experience working as a Technological Education teacher in a high school in Ontario, preferably with qualification in more than one broad-based technology area, and experience at both the 9/10 and 11/12 curriculum levels;
- Solid leadership experience in an education environment;
- Experience in program development is an asset;
- Is accessible with a consultative and collaborative management style;
- Record of dealing fairly and respectfully with teachers, students, other administrators, and stakeholders;
- Outstanding human relations, communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Strong critical-thinking skills and creative problem-solving skills.
Note that the position will involve some travel to partner boards in Northwest Ontario and the Simcoe County region.

Under general supervision, the incumbent will procure general merchandise, including clothing, drinkware, gifts, cards, degree frames, and other miscellany, for the purpose of resale in the bookstore and online through the bookstore’s website. DUTIES:
- Acts as the bookstore’s trusted advocate for all general merchandise products with the retail and online markets;
- Discuss new product lines with vendors, either in-person at trade shows or during representative visits to the store;
- Negotiates pricing, oversees and approves artwork, and utilizes existing software to purchase orders to respective vendors
- Adds new products into the store’s retail management system Bookware 3000 where required;
- Receives all external shipments of general merchandise from oner 75 vendor partners;
- Reconciles discrepancies between packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders with vendors;
- Utilize existing resources to contact vendors regarding the tracking, expedition or return of merchandise that does not conform to specifications;
- Partners with the manager of the satellite campus store in Orillia, splitting general merchandise orders where necessary, or arranging and receiving transfers;
- Shelves products and creates window and table displays, choosing location and placement to optimize sales;
- Collaborates with University partners to prepare and produce signage and other promotional materials;
- Participates in daily maintenance of the sales floor, by conducting regular walkthroughs and inspections of inventory;
- Procures custom orders of general merchandise such as apparel, pins, drinkware, employee service awards, tote bags, etc. for the purpose of re-sale to the university departments and student clubs;
- Receives all custom orders shipments of general merchandise and reconciles discrepancies between packing slips, invoices and purchase orders with vendors, freight companies, and custom brokers.
- Runs start and end of day procedures, including daily cashing in and out of tills;
- Prepares and balances daily cash and deposits for both the Thunder Bay and Orillia stores;
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Post-Secondary education in Business Administration or related field;
- A proven track record in retail purchasing or supervisory experience in a retail environment (minimum 2-3 years) working with inventory and budget management in a retail setting;
- Knowledge of computerized accounting/bookkeeping, including a solid working knowledge of retail operations;
- Ability to organize and prioritize a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions;
- High attention to detail and accuracy;
- Excellent written, oral abd interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to foster a cooperative work environment;
- Must have mathematical and computer literacy;
- Must have physical strength and stamina to lift and move heavy goods;
- Proficiency with computer software programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe suites, Zoom, as well as Datatel/Colleague, Bookware;
- Ability to adapt and learn new systems and software as required;
- Superior customer service skills;
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures would be an asset;
As a condition of employment, a Level 1 police criminal record check must be provided by the successful candidate.
