Alternate Format for Printed Materials
If you are a student who has a disability that prevents you from using standard instructional materials, you may be provided the accommodation of:
- Alternate textbook format - to be requested by student & provided by SAS
If this accommodation is listed on your accommodation form please:
- Fill out the Alternative Format Request Form for the electronic file(s) required. Ensure you complete the Verification and Agreement on Page 2 as well.
- Include proof of purchase along with this request in the form of an official receipt. If you purchase second hand/used textbooks in person please use the Proof of Purchase for second hand/used textbooks form if no physical receipt or proof of purchase is available.
- Submit the Alternative Format Request Form and the Proof of Purchase to atech-sas@lakeheadu.ca
Although we make every effort to accommodate your request, please understand that depending on the Publisher, it may take from 1 to 6 weeks for you to receive the electronic file. SAS recommends that students requiring alternate format textbooks make their requests prior to the term start date or as early in the term as possible.
Please Note: The accommodation as offered by SAS of Alternative Textbook Format only refers to digital textbooks and not print. We are not responsible to print a textbook that is either:
- Available only in a digital format.
- Part of the course reserves that are accessed through the Library.
- Are available online for free (ex: Ontario teaching curriculum documents).
If you wish to print these materials, it is at your own expense.
